Women: Make One Wardrobe Switch to Change Your Life

Can one item of clothing change your entire life? Yes! They may look sexy, but there’s nothing sexy about pain, redness, bunions, hammertoes, and ingrown toenails. You know this already, but high heels can cause a variety of problems for women's feet and entire body, including:

  1. Pain: Wearing high heels can cause discomfort and pain in the feet, ankles and legs. This is because they put extra pressure on the toes and the ball of the foot, causing them to become sore and cramped. However, did you realize wearing hells can cause lower back pain? Wearing heels really messes up your entire body!

  2. Blisters: Yes, you already realize this I’m sure. Most professional women at parties carry Band-Aids in there purse for this very reason. High heels cause blisters to form on the feet due to the constant rubbing of the shoes against the skin. These blisters can be painful, bloody, get infected and take a long time to heal. Why are you torturing your feet like this?

This can be especially dangerous for older women or those with mobility issues. A regular yoga practice can help offset balance issues caused by years of foot torture in heels.

  6. Muscle and ligament shortening. Your calves, Achilles tendons and other muscles and tendons in your legs, ankles and feet will shorten due to wearing high heels. This can affect your entire body, balance and comfort. The yoga pose downward dog and forward fold in particular help stretch these muscles can lengthen them over time with consistent practice.

You know what can reverse years of wearing high heels? Practicing yoga and stretching the arches of the feet, as well as the muscles in the legs and back will work to combat years of abuse you’ve inflicted upon yourself with those heels. Don’t ignore the reality: high heels negatively impact the entire body. Make a commitment to cutting out high heels entirely, or only wearing them for limited periods of time on special occasions.
